Top Class Races Kick Start The New National Hunt Season

National Hunt Grade One Races for the 2009/2010 UK National Hunt Season properly get under way in October when it will be safe to say that all of its stars will be taking their first runs of the season in their annual bid to prepare themselves for Cheltenham in march or the Grand National in April. Before those two legendary events take place,,, there are several Grade One races (reviewed below) to be run in 2009 which should provide tremendous sport starting in November with the Betfair Chase.

The Betfair Chase � This Grade One race and is the fourth most valuable steeplechases in the country behind, the Grand National,customize bobblehead, Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Queen Mother Champion Chase. It takes place at Haydock Park and is the first race of the Betfair Million, which offers a million pounds to any of the first three home in the race who then goes on to finish first or second in any race at Cheltenham but who then must go on to win the Grand national at Aintree. It is a very tall order,personalized bobblehead, but National Hunt fans will get an early season chance to look over some of those that will be at the Cheltenham and Aintree meetings. Past winners of the race include Kauto Star who won in both 2006 and 2007 and snoopy loopy who won last year.

Fighting Fifth Hurdle � The Fighting Fifth Hurdle is run at Newcastle in November and is the ffirst leg of the Hurdling Triple Crown; the other two races being the Christmas Hurdle and the Champion Hurdle. The name is taken from the nickname of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers and was inaugurated into the National Hunt calendar in 1978. Some of its notable winners include the great Kribensis, who was the last winner of the Hurdling Triple Crown Other winners include three tem Champion Hurdler, Sea Pigeon, who won the race twice and Punjabi who won last year and went on to win the Champion Hurdle.

Tingle Creek Chase � This race takes place at Sandown Park in early December and is raced over 2 miles with thirteen fences to be jumped. It is highly suitable gauge for those who will be running in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham. Long Walk Hurdle � This is the first Grade One Stayer�s Hurdle race of the season which takes place in December at Ascot. It is run over 3 miles and 1 furlong and was first run in 1965. It is the perfect race to check the form for those entered in the World Hurdle at Cheltenham. Those horse�s who have won the Long Walk have gone on to win the World Hurdle in recent years have been My Way de Solzen in 2005/6 and the brilliant French horse,customized bobbleheads, Baracouda who won the Long Walk four times and the World Hurdle,Aussie S Taken Gamble On Brett Lee, twice.

Christmas Hurdle � This is the second leg of the Hurdling Triple Crown and takes place at Kempton Park Racecourse each year on Boxing Day,custom bobbleheads. The most followed horse for this race is usually the winner of the Fighting Fifth Hurdle,custom bobblehead. However last season it was won by Harchibald who in winning denied Punjabi the Hurdling Triple Crown as Punjabi went on to win the Champion Hurdle,custom bobblehead. It was Harchibald�s second win in the race. Other outstanding winners of this race include Intersky Falcon and Kribensis,personalized bobbleheads.

King George VL Chase � The most avidly followed steeplechase with the exception of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, the King George is the highlight of the Boxing Day Festival at Kempton Park. It is a race that always seems to provide thrills and spills and has been won by some true legends of steeplechasing. Kauto Star has won the race for last three years and will go for a record of four in a row which will also equal the record of the great Desert Orchid who four times in five years and was second in the other. Kauto Star is also a winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup twice and is favourite to win for the third time this season.
